Not long after Marshmello, Chris Brown and Tyga released their long-awaited collaboration, "Light It Up," the former artist has been publicly denounced for working with the latter two. CHVRCHES, who previously joined forces with the masked producer on "Here With Me," have spoken out on his choice to work with the two rappers.
"We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello's choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown," reads a joint statement tweeted by the band. "We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately endorses that behavior. That is not something we can or will stand behind."
As we've pointed out earlier, Marshmello's choice in collaborators does highlight a double standard in how the EDM industry regards those accused or convicted of abuse. Brown was most recentlyarrestedon suspicion of aggravated rape in Paris, but his record of violent behavior extends all the way back to 2009. Tygacame under firein 2015 for dating a then-17Kylie Jenner.
Marshmello has not publicly responded to CHVRCHES statement at the time of writing.

MARSHMELLO'S GIRLFRIEND POSTS UNMASKED PICTURE OF HIM ON VALENTINE'S DAY
Fans got a rare look at Marshmello via a Valentine's Day post on his girlfriend Kelsey Calemine's Instagram. While many couples around the world have posted similar pictures showing love to their partner, this one is dramatically different considering it shows the mysterious artist without his mask.
Many fans, internet personalities, and artists like Diplo showed their love for the couple in the comment section. While she didn't tag Marshmello's account directly, she did tag the account for Dotcom, his non-anonymous project from before he put on the mask and becoming one of the biggest EDM artists in the world.
About a month ago, the Mellogang was excited to see the release of five different remixes of his track with YUNGBLUD and blackbear, "Tongue Tied." Days before that, it was announced that he would be up for Dance Artist of the Year and Dance Song of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March. At the award ceremony, he'll compete with Diplo, Kygo, The Chainsmokers, and more for the prize.
